Join this much-loved children’s writer and illustrator in a family-friendly, fun filled draw-along for all ages. Nick’s best-selling picture books include You Choose, Shark in the Park and Pants. He’s also the illustrator of Jacqueline Wilson’s phenomenally popular children’s novels. He’ll be showing you how he creates characters like Tracy Beaker and Timothy Pope, sharing ways to invent your own crazy creatures and giving loads of top tips as your draw along with him.

Bring pencils, paper and something to lean on.

This show is 60 minutes with no interval. There will be a meet and greet and book signing session following the performance.

 

Nick Sharratt is a British illustrator and author of children’s books, most famous for his illustrations for The Story of Tracey Beaker and Little Darlings by award-winning author Jacqueline Wilson. Nick’s iconic illustration style and children’s writing have won him numerous awards including the Children’s Book Award, the Nestle Children’s Book Award and he was chosen to be the Official Illustrator for World Book Day 2006.

Nick grew up in London, Suffolk, Nottinghamshire and Greater Manchester and from an early age was determined to be a professional artist. He studied art at Manchester Polytechnic (Manchester Metropolitan University) and Central St Martins in London and graduated in 1984. His career in illustration started with educational textbooks which led to his first picture book Noisy Poems published in 1987.

In the 1990s Nick focused solely on illustrating children’s books and has now had close to 250 books published with his artwork. He has worked with authors including Julia Donaldson, Jeremy Strong, Michael Rosen, Giles Andreae, Kaye Umansky, Kes Gray and most notably Dame Jacqueline Wilson and has also written around 40 of his own books.
