Fox and Hound Theatres' intriguing and enthralling revival of three of Tennesee William’s lesser-known works. Including the English Premier of Ivan’s Widow.
27 Wagons Full Of Cotton.
In 1930s Mississippi a cotton gin mysteriously burns down. In desperate financial times, it appears that the rules of business are different. Do two wrongs make a right? A dysfunctional relationship centres this disturbing look at abuse and how one woman may find a silver lining in a desperate situation. This play deals with the social and economic climate of a country coming out of recession and transcends this with the still-relevant issues of mental health, domestic abuse and rape. ‘Seemingly fragile people are the strong ones really.’ Classic Tennessee Williams.
Ivan’s Widow
Attempting to cope with her husband’s death, a widow seeks answers from her psychiatrist – a cold, predatory and promiscuous man with a seemingly genuine concern for his patient. She struggles to differentiate between fantasy and reality, but whose truth is real?
Talk to Me Like the Rain and Let Me Listen
A 1930s New York couple find themselves in a cycle of deprivation. With ravaged appearances, the scene between them is one of eternal repetition, where emotions are worn out and the hopelessly unalterable is accepted.
Reviews
'The opportunity to see these plays does not come around very often and the company performs a service to the theatre by presenting them. That they do so with such accomplishment is a tribute to their dedication, devotion, professionalism and talent'
Richard Beck (BroadwayBaby)
'Beautifully crafted performances, these rare Williams plays deserve packed houses and Fox and Hound themselves accolades ... proving a special attunement to them all'.
