The Baker's Wife

3rd April 2018 - 7th April 2018

Price: £15.00

22 years ago SMP performed The Baker’s Wife at the Redgrave Theatre and we are absolutely delighted to be bringing this true gem of a musical back to the Redgrave in 2018!

This romantic musical written by Joseph Stein (Fiddler on the Roof) and composed by Stephen Schwartz (known for Godspell, Pippin and most recent hit Wicked) is a delightful ensemble piece. Set in a rural village in 1935, it focuses on the bickering colourful residents when they are forced to go without a basic staple for 7 weeks, bread! The musical focuses on how the villagers welcome their new middle aged baker, his delicious delicacies and his very young, very attractive wife…….. Is the grass always greener? Come along to find out!

Hot on the heels of SMP’s South West premiere of Jane Eyre, A Musical Drama and in our 59th year of performing (yes we are looking forward to celebrating 60 years in 2019) we hope to welcome you to the Redgrave, be prepared to leave your diets at the door and delight in the delicious smell, taste and touch of bread!
