The Enid have received a succession of praise for their work in the last year. Founder Robert John Godfrey was crowned VISIONARY at the Progressive Music Awards 2014, along with lead vocalist Joe Payne being voted BEST MALE VOCALIST in the 2014 Prog Magazine Readers’ Poll.
The Enid announced recently that they would be releasing the final part in a trilogy of albums in autumn 2015. DUST will be the band’s first official release since the highly acclaimed comeback album INVICTA in 2012 which triggered an accelerated buzz of interest within the classic rock and prog community.
Malcolm Dome of Prog Magazine has described the band’s latest show as “The Enid entering the most enticing, engaging and engrossing phase of their career.”
In support of their ambition to produce visually spectacular live shows the group have been taking directions from illusionist, Simon Drake, best known for his work on Channel 4’s Secret Cabaret but also recognised for his production and performance role in the original Kate Bush ‘Tour of Life’ and other great music acts. Simon's valuable advice prompted the band to offer him the role of official Director of The Enid as he continues his support.
Following a break in 1988, Godfrey rediscovered his musical muse in 2007 and has since lovingly reformed The Enid with original drummer Dave Storey and a new generation of multi-instrumentalists - Jason Ducker, Max Read, Dominic Tofield and Joe Payne.
The Enid are best remembered for historic albums In the Region of the Summer Stars,Aerie Faerie Nonsense and Something Wicked This Way Comes.
